Betse Bernstein Therapeutic Massage of Thailand Personal Statement
I grew up in a medical family, My dad was a doctor(General Practitioner) and my mom was a nurse. When I was a teenager, and during college vacations, I worked in my dad’s medical office in Greenlawn, Long Island, New York.
When I went to IPSB (International Pacific School of Bodywork), I wanted to be a healer. When I discovered THAI Massage, I was so excited about the quality of the massage, it more than exceeded my expectations. My work just keeps getting better over the years.
In 1993, when I first started doing THAI MASSAGE most people had not heard of this form of massage. I promoted it as THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE OF THAILAND and explained that it was done on a mat on the floor, fully clothed without oil. It was excellent for back pain, neck pain, and much more. The more I was able to release pain through my massage, the more referrals I received for therapeutic massage. Ultimately, I ended up creating my own style.
My background as an elementary school teacher has helped me greatly as a THAI MASSAGE Instructor. My love of teaching plus my passion for Thai Massage allows students to learn from me with ease.
By the fall of 1993 I had taken the full Thai Massage course twice (the second time for no credit, just to perfect my skills). I had also taken an advanced course and was receiving Thai Massage weekly from an instructor.
Teaching a short workshop on Thai Massage launched my teaching career. In the fall of 1993, I started teaching students both in San Diego and Orange County.
I became a Thai Massage instructor at Natural Healing Institute in Encinitas for 5 years and currently teach my own style privately.
I’ve visited THAILAND twice and studied at ITM INTERNATIONAL TRAINING MASSAGE, an institute of Thai massage in Chiang Mai, Thailand where I completed advanced courses plus The Teacher Training Program.
What Differentiates My Style
I treat my moves as a dance with each step flowing into the next. All through the stretches, I massage the different areas that are revealed in that stretch. By being present I can feel the tight muscles and intuitively know what is needed.
I teach students to be present as shown in my video. I have developed special techniques to relieve pain that allows the recipient to feel comfortable while releasing the problem. I am firm but gentle. I love teaching Thai Massage and want my secrets to be available to anyone who has a sincere desire to learn.
This is the philosophy behind my video. In finding Thai Massage I found my true passion in life.
I hope the same happens for you.
